At the heart of UCSP’s Early Years Education Service, is the Freshlings Nursery which is located on the main Plymouth University campus. The setting is divided into four nursery rooms; baby, toddler, tweenie and pre-school.
Our aim is to work with parents to support the learning and development of their child and their individual needs. When starting with Freshlings Nursery, children are allocated a key person, who will support the child, settle them into nursery life and make a close bond with them, ensuring they feel safe and secure. The child’s key person is the main point of contact in the setting should parents need to discuss anything.
Parent partnerships are important to us, and we encourage participation in the child’s learning journey, with photos, comments and wow moments. We also arrange parents meetings, around three a year to update parents on their children’s progress.
Where we differ from other settings, is our very close relationship with the Early Years Education specialists in the Plymouth University Institute of Education. This ensures that we are at the cutting edge of best practice.
